Further data centre expansion for STT GDC in Philippines

Data centre provider ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Philippines (STT GDC) is expanding its presence in the Philippines with the construction of a second facility in its STT Cavite data centre campus.

Cavite is a fast-growing province in the Philippines located on the southern shores of Manila Bay and southwest of Manila. This expansion, just six months after construction began on STT Fairview in Quezon city, brings the total number of STT data centres to seven.

STT Cavite 2 is sited in a business park with ready power and network infrastructure. It will be a two-storey building with a gross floor area of over 4,500 square metres and will deliver up to 6 megawatts of total IT capacity. The facility is connected to two different power substations.

The data centre will be designed and operated to meet the TIA-942 Certification Rated-3, which covers telecommunications infrastructure and other aspects of a mission-critical data centre, such as the site location, architectural and physical structure of the building, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, fire safety and physical security.

STT Cavite 2 will include ready network connections to STT Makati, one of the most interconnected data centres in the Philippines, providing customers of STT Cavite 2 with immediate access to a rich selection of local and international networks.

As we reported at the time, STT GDC Philippines announced the successfully conclusion of the construction of the 1.2MW data centre in Makati City on the outskirts of Manila about a week ago.

Set to begin operations in mid-2025, STT Cavite 2 is STT GDC Philippines’ second major build this year, following the ground-breaking on the STT Fairview data centre campus, slated to become the largest, most interconnected, sustainable, and carrier-neutral data centre campus in the country with a total capacity of 124MW upon completion.

STT GDC Philippines is a joint venture between Globe, the Ayala Corporation, and Singapore-based ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC).
